silently listened to Kevan tell the story about the Tree of Life, there
were parts of the story that
Alex did not recognize. For the most part the stories she heard were
much different, and she wondered how much of the stories she heard had
truth in them. It
also made her wonder if her child hood hero characters were indeed
fiction, or if they had real hand in the very history she was about to
Rin Kit slept soundly on her paws, he seemed to not care of about the talking that was taking place between
the adults. His little nose tucked underneath his large bushy tail.
Keavn seemed to take
an end to his story, only slightly agreeing with Alex's thoughts on
mirror. Though it frustrated her to hear that they could not go back to
the school. The school was where all her things were located; it was
where food came in
plentiful, as well as a place to shelter from the winter weathers. Here
in Dublin Ireland she was a lost child in a crowded market place, she
new very little
about the land, where they could go, what was available to them, here
they were completely lost. She new this was the home of Kevan, she also
new that he would
have a better idea of the layout, but if he was right, his own bar would
be just as dangerous as the school or even the old vampires castle. In
the end… they
were completely alone.
"Well if we cant go
to the school where can we go? We are not ready to be nomads traveling
country! We simply don't have the food or the provisions to help us
survive such a journey. I hate to say it but strawberries simply wont
Alex's voice rose just a little, causing Rin Kit to mumble something in his sleep and move to curl up
into a smaller ball, one of his paws lifting to cover his large ears from the disturbing sounds around him.
Alex stiffened Rin Kit moaned and sat up
"Alex you're worse then mom! Cant you ever stay still?!"
Alex growled and glared down at the kit.
She replied standing up but allowing her body to remain low to the ground as she stalked closer to the
doorway, her nose raised to the air as she sniffed in hopes to get a scent of who was coming.
She barked her muscles relaxing. It was a warm welcome and everyone seemed more happy at his return. Though
his story about his version of the tree of life, and the news of hasgrid only caused the mood to die down once again.
After a long time Alex commented.
"Ill Accept Guardianship over the Tree of Life"
A warm prickling
sensation washed over her body, a soft chilled wind crawling up her
spine, while seemingly
out of know where leaves and cherry blossoms rush past her, while sand
licked at her paws, the pendant granting her the powers of Earth to help
her on the long
journey to come.

looked at Thorin; his eyebrow cocked. "I am not sure what wizard
stories you have
heard, but a guardian's priority is to guard the tree of life and the
amulets. If they were to be compromised all hope would be lost. Without
a person would not be able to summon the tree; otherwise…there would be
hell on earth in the hands of someone of ill intent." Kevan chuckled and
his fingers through his hair. "Mr. Dupont was an experienced guardian.
He passed on what he knew to me; should anything happen to him. I have
in the ways of the guardian, and I know their deepest and most secret of
secrets." Kevan turned and faced Belle, and looked into her blue eyes.
sooner we train the better….Belle? What's going on?"
sighed in relief as Thorin came through the opening and into the room.
He looked like
death, and she was sure he had looked it in the eye earlier. "Glad to
see you alive and well Thorin!" Belle gave her friend a hug and stood
Kevan. Kevan ran through the story of the tree of life, and Belle
grimaced as Thorin challenged the details that Kevan had told. She
rolled her eyes as the
guys got into a debate on details and looked at her feet. She started to
look up again, but something caught her eye. A ring she had never seen
before was on
her right hand index finger. Belle frowned and went to try and take it
off, but it wouldn't budge. What the…? Belle tugged and tugged until her
hurt. Grimacing she put her finger in her mouth to moisten her finger in
order to get it off. That did not work either. She brought her hand up
to inspect the
ring closer. It looked to be made of silver, and there was an unusual
grayish-blue jewel set in the center. It was intricately designed with
wings carved along
the sides, which wrapped around the stone in the center. Belle did a
double take as the color of jewel shimmered, and then churned under its
reminded her of fog. Belle extended her hand to Kevan. "I can't get it
off, and I don't know where it came from. It's not mine." Belle
turned as she heard a cry of pain from across the room. Alex was on the
floor, and a second fox tail was being formed next to the other. Belle
gasped and ran
over to her limp body laying on the floor. She reached out and put her
hand on Alex's back to make sure she was breathing. She stroked her
silky coat to
try and wake her. "Alex..." Belle whispered. "Kevan go get a blanket."
When Kevan came back she put a blanket over her, sat down by her
side, and continued to caress the fur around her face.

Alex…follow the forest path to the graves where old ones lie, seek the
white stone that holds
the key of the three never ending roads follow the dark path to where
none returns, unite the Gray folk with that of the Fierce clan of tree
She could feel hands
on her, the soft gentle strokes of people concerned. What were they so
But most of all she wondered who the person was that had been talking to
her, so distant was the voice almost as if a wall had separated her
from the ethereal
voice that whispered gently in her ear.
Another voice was
calling to her, but its voice sounded more human, more real, and much
louder then the one
speaking to her in her dreams. Alex moaned and twitched her ear ever so
slightly, her eyes opening too mere slits letting in the power of
blinding red light
that threatened to blind her. Closing her eyes she moaned and tilted her
head into the palm of someone's hand.
"mm..err… wha…what happened?"
Alex muttered as she
made to lift her head up and open her eyes again the light of the fire
burning low in
the fire place not nearly as blinding as before, Squinting her eyes she
could see that Rusa the wolf sat beside her, her head cocked to the side
looked like worry, Alia sat next to her, her warm hand resting on Alex's
shoulder. And belle on the other side of her also looking as if
happened to cause her to worry. Letting a yawn slip past her jaws, her
tongue curling like that of her kind often do. She pushed herself up
into a sitting
"Man I feel like a ton of bricks landed on me!"
She joked lifting her right paw up to give it a few licks. And then… slowly, ever so slowly it hit her, the
Amulet had glowed like fire around her neck, and the shock pain that ran down her spine…the voice….
She began her eyes growing wide with wonder. Spinning around Alex made to look at the two tails that bushed
elegantly behind her
"What the heck happened!"
She cried as she
jumped up away from everyone and spun around as if to chase her own
tails. After the second
spin around she gave up, and instead she crouched low and pushed up off
her back paws onto the table that sat in the middle of the room, there
she was able to
look directly into the mirror where she could better see the two tails.
It took her a couple more seconds to take it all in, and then with a
soft sigh Alex
looked into the mirror again, not to gaze with wonder at her own two
tails, but to try and see through the same mirror they would have to go
through in order
to leave this small room.
'follow the forest path to the graves where old ones lie…."
"I know where we have to go."
Alex then spoke of
the voice that talked to her while she was asleep. She told them what
the voice had
requested of her, and how she felt it would be best for all of them to
go. She was not sure if this had anything to do with the legends that
hung about their
necks, but she did know that something deep inside her burned with the
longing to fallow the voice.
"What do you guys think? Shall we go into the forest then?"
Kit looked up at Alex who had spoken about accepting the mission of the
Tree of Life. Rin
really had no clue what his new friend was talking about, all trees in
the forest had life in them, which one was it that she was talking
about? Surely she
didn't mean to protect all the trees, that would be ridiculous!
just as he had been contemplating over Alexes words a soft gush of wind
brushed past him,
causing his fur to ripple and his shoulders to shiver. One of the
necklace's Alex had been wearing began to glow a bright green-ish color
and shortly after
she had cried out in a shriek of pain. Rin's eyes grew wide, his paw
involuntarily causing him to shuffled backwards towards the fire place
feeling dry and clammy. Never in his whole life did he ever believe he
would run into someone from his mothers stories, and yet, right here
there stood one,
and not only was she standing before him, but she was in the middle of
transformation from a greater power of strength.
been said in legends that each time a Kitsune Fox grew another tail
they would get
stronger with there skills and powers, they had nine tails, and when a
kitsune gained there ninth tail, legends spoke of them taking there

Inaris feet carrying messages through the stars of heaven and the trees
Rin had stayed next to the fire
while her friend tended to her, he stayed when she woke, and when she
had told them of
her visions. He stayed in complete awe, for his best friend, his savior
was something that should not even exist, for they had been killed
centuries ago, his
mother had told him, the old story teller of his clan had told him, his
leader had told him. A Kitsune was made of legends…..they were only
