continued to keep her eyes on the wolf, how she hated dogs, mostly
because dogs hated her, she could
not remember a time in life where a dog was friendly to her, either
chasing her out of yards, nipping and biting at her feet, or just plain
attacking for a
kill. Either way, dogs hated her and she hated them. No one said a dog
was going to be brought to this disaster zone to begin with! Had they of
she would of probably changed her mind before accepting the amulet that
clung to her red chest fur.
A voice interrupted
her concentration, a voice she had heard when hidden in her little
tunnel next to the
bookshelf, swiveling her ears behind her she turned to get a look at the
man that had caused this mess that had caused her friends pain. And
worst of all he
found it prudent to gloat about it, standing tall and with a light of
pride glinting in his eyes at his mastery.
"Alright! I have had enough of this!"
Alex yipped a sharp
fox bark that echoed through the broken study room. Gathering up her
strength she pushed
off with her back paws and leaped towards the wizard. In mid leap she
could feel an almost electrical sensation wash over her, her fur
rippling in displeasure
at the sensation before her strong jaw clamped tightly around the mans
wrist that held a glass globe necklace, She could taste the sweet,
coppery taste of
human blood, he may be a wizard, strong and old, but he was still human,
and his life force flowed from the gapping wound she created, ripping
and tearing with
her teeth as she clung onto him, biting down harder and harder until her
jaw ached from the pressure, she aimed to snap the bones in his wrist,
to take the
glass globe from him, anything that would cause pain to the man, a man
that caused pain to the small group gathered in this room, pain to the
man that hurt one
of her friends. A soft jingling noise rang through her keen sense of
hearing, cedric had dropped the glass crystal pendant.
Not wanting to waist
her luck and possibly get hurt from spending to much time on wounding
the man, she
opened her jaw and released the wrist allowing her agile body to drop on
all four paws at his feet. The staff the man held flew towards her
skull, forcing her
to duck quickly in surprise; did he attack her so soon? Or was it a
simple reaction due to the pain in his wrist? Either way it was time to
get out of the
danger zone. Grabbing the crystal ball necklace she leaped over the
staff that seemed to come at her again and took off running and bounding
over rocks, books,
fallen tables, and wooden planks in a hurried attempt to get back to her
hiding spot near the book shelf. Before plunging into darkness she
heard sounds from
behind her, and to her surprise one of the voices sounded almost like

Yes, there most certainly is.
Dupont smiled as Alia's wolf friend trotted over and sat down on
the couch in front of him. "Ahh…so you bring a protector too Alia…" His
words were interrupted by Cedric's egotistical laughter, which seems to
reverberate and bounce off the walls.
far, how far do you truly think you will get, an Elf, a wolf, an old
wind bag and a young blood sucker, alone against the world? Or are you
holding some hope my naive nephew will step out of that gate, come to
save the day at
some tragic moment perhaps during your journey? He is powerless now, I
seen to that, and even if he had enough magic left to cast a spell or
two and get out I
hold the key to his destruction. Your helpless all of you."
Dupont narrowed his eyes, stood gingerly from his chair, finally giving
his attention, and folded his arms in front of him. He shook his head in
disappointment and spoke to everyone in the room, but looked directly
"You are truly a fool. Did you not learn anything about the tree of life
while you were a protector? I know I did, and as a former guardian, I
that true friendship is mightier than any spell or enchantment. These
kids may seem to be weak, but in reality they are strong. Their
friendship makes them
stronger than, obviously, you can even imagine. I am disappointed
Cedric. We were good friends…You know how important it is for the tree
to be guarded and
protected…or is that what is making you do this? Are you…no…do you want
the tree of life? Is that why these kids are made to suffer? Has your
poisoned with greed…with the need to live beyond your years?"
sat there on the couch, she listened, listened to everything. It was all
starting to make
sense. "Ok, ok grandfather, I will be a guardian." As Belle made her vow
the amulet started to glow. The light grew and spread outward. In a
of seconds the light had covered Belle's entire body. Belle stood up and
looked at her hand in amazement. She felt a strange warming sensation
just like the light had done moments before. In that instant, she was
more than Belle, she was a guardian. The light made it's way back into
but the warmth stayed with her. She felt stronger, and felt a type of
power she would never be able to explain, and she instantly knew this
was what she was
guardian over…the power of the amulet.
was brought back to reality as Alex, in fox form, flew at
Cedric clamping down on his hand. Belle's heart raced. As Alex grabbed
the necklace ducking blows by Cedric's staff, Belle, at a speed that was
invisible to the eye, ran over to Cedric and grabbed his staff before he
could try to hurt Alex again. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw
Kevan run to her
grandfather's side. She looked into Cedric's eyes and spoke loud enough
for everyone to hear her. "Leave my friends along." In one swift
motion Belle grabbed his good arm and broke it in two. "Tisk, Tisk,
looks like you need medical attention. How about some blood letting?"
flashed her fangs at Cedric, and smiled her most innocent smile. "Remove
your spells against my friend, or die."

Alex had no
memory of time being forced to move slow, the ever engulfing darkness of
her little hiding
tunnel near the book self was just slightly illuminated by her Kitsune
Necklace that hung just slightly above the Tree of Life Pendant. Both
Thorians Tree of
Life pendant and Cedrics Glass ball necklace clutched in her strong but
ever gentle jaws. When Time was brought back it was like a clash of
thunder hitting her
at full force as the sounds of an electrical surge snapped and hissed

Alex's fur rippled at the stench of burned air and flesh. Hurriedly she

tunnel, of which she backed out of to figure out what had happened. The
site she saw did
not improve her mood, rather it enflamed her anger greatly. Whispering a
curse under her breathe Alex changed from fox form into her human
shape, leaves and
twigs falling from her shoulders as well as intertwined into her hair.
Thorian had somehow
returned from the gate that he had most recently been banished to.
Somehow he stood
there, battling with his uncle strength for strength. Cedrics eyes were
wide in horror and disbelief as he was pounded back inch by inch to the

"Help Belle and her uncle, Do you understand?"
Not waiting for an
answer Alex took long strides away from the elf's side stepping gingerly
rubble towards the two battling wizards. She new it was perhaps a bad
Idea to walk into the middle of a wizard fight, but she was not about to
battle the guy alone either. Whispering something under her breath she
focused her energy to cause the illusion that the large peace of wood
clutched in her
hands shone with the sharpness of a Japanese Blade. The edge glittering
and reflecting the light that came from the wizards battle. Her Illusion
not strong enough, all she could do was make the peace of wood look
menacing and sword like, but it would still hit like blunt wood. But
Alex figured it was
better then nothing.
Coming up just a step behind Thorian she growled towards Cedric with furious intensity. Her hands grinding
and tensing upon the hilt of her Illusion blade.

OOC:: Sorry guys!! This one is a little short… There really was not much to go off of for this
Alex lowered her
Illusion blade, she could not figure out how the fight had ended to
quickly, the man had
caused ruin to a part of the castle, killed… or so she had thought at
the time, her wizard friend, killed the old man who happened to a
vampire, and even
stopped time. And yet, after a quick move from Thorian, he was gone, in a
flash of bright white light he had disappeared, leaving nothing but a
design upon the
cobblestone drive way. A design Alex new nothing about.
Letting out her held
breath she looked over at Kevan who looked as confused as she did, And
then she turned
to see Thorian picking himself up from the rubble that surrounded him.
And then to Allia and her wolf growling defensively at her side, the
motionless form of
the old man, and Belle who had just entered into the room. Such Chaos,
for what? A pendant? She didn't even know the whole story, the reason
why they were
'Destined' as the old man had put it, why they were all here, in this
location, or why an old wizard would cause such chaos to that of his own
For what? A tree? A union of people… what was so scary, so bad, so wrong
about uniting creatures under one home? One tree? On planet? What was
the point to all
Sighing Alex lowered her eyes and brought her free hand up to finger the Tree of Life Pendant that hung at
her neck. Not realizing that danger was not yet a baited.
EDIT :: (This edit is to add a little more content)
With a small yelp
Alex jerked her fingers away from the pendant at her neck, the pendent
itself had shocked
her!! Brining her fingers up to her mouth she sucked on them like an
animal would lick a wound to ease the pain, her foot stomping harshly on
the ground to
show her irritation, a sound, a low grumble, a small pop that made her
ears ring caused her to spin around on her heals, her fingers still in
her mouth, her
eyes growing wide, there at the doorway stood Hasgard, the demon Throian
had introduced them to.
Releasing her fingers she responded as she would to a friend
"Oh Hi Hasgard… I didn't know you could come without being summoned by Thorian"
Hasgard did not reply, instead he looked down at her, un-moveing
"Ummm Hasgard? Your not still angry I made you turn into a human for a short bit are you?
The room seemed to of gotten darker, the lights dimming, and Alex's fox senses told her to run, her
muscles causing her to involuntarily take a step back from the door way.
"Aaah… Everyone… aaaah…. Follow me!"
Spinning around Alex
ran hoping the others would fallow, She ran straight into the wall
behind the bookshelf
and suddenly disappearing as if she had walked through the wall itself
right into her fox tunnel, the tunnel was only as large as that of a
kitsune in fox
form. But when a friend or guest was invited into the tunnel with a good
heart it would cause the tunnel to shift and shape into one to admit

everyone by its faint light.
"I suggest we follow the tunnel. Ill take lead since I have the light."

responsible for the death of
her grandfather had vanished, and had left symbols drawn on the grounds.
Belle looked down as Thorin got up off the floor, and brushed off dirt
Belle was mad, as mad as she had ever been. Belle finally let her
thoughts flow. "He's dead…I'm not sure what to do now…he was going to
me everything we needed to know, and now he's dead! I'm so sorry Alia, I
don't have the answers you came here for." Belle felt a hot tear
slide down her face. She wiped away her tears and turned around when she
heard Alex talk.

"Ummm Hasgard? Your not still angry I made you turn into a human for a short bit are you? Hasgard?"
Belle looked up at the mention of Hasgard, and couldn't help but smile. Her
smile quickly faded as Alex's attempts to greet Hasgard were not met with kindness.
"Aaah… Everyone… aaaah…. Fallow me!"
into the bookshelf and disappeared into thin air. Belle's eyes widened
but she didn't have time to wonder how Alex vanished like that, and
decided to trust that she would be able to do the same. She motioned at
Alia to follow
her and Alex into the bookcase. She closed her eyes in anticipation, and
ran at her target. To her relief, she melted through the bookcase just
as Alex had not

"Alex…where is everyone?" Belle couldn't see; not even when she waved a

uneasy feeling. At that moment the tunnel illuminated, and Belle
narrowed her eyes in
order to adjust to the new light.

"I suggest we fallow the tunnel. Illtake lead since I have the light."
Belle nodded her head in agreement and looked around to see Kevan standing directly
was mad, at himself, and most of all at Cedric. How could he let this
happen? He swore to
protect Mr. Dupont, and now he is dead. Fuming, Kevan started to go
after Cedric, but was forced to take a back seat as Thorin beat him to
it. Cedric and
Thorin were locked in battle, and Kevan could only watch. He would wait
until the right opportunity presented itself, then he would strike and
kill the wizard.
Thorin formed a blade and pierced a shield Cedric was using, but the
impact caused an explosion that sent Kevan to the ground. He quickly
stood back up;
however his chance to destroy Cedric had come and gone. The wizard had
fled. "NOOOO! I'm not done with you!" Kevan ran out through the hole in
the wall towards where Cedric had disappeared. He stopped short and
looked at the symbols that were drawn on the ground. Crouching down on
his knees, Kevan
traced the symbol with his finger. He had never seen something like this
before. He dealt in enchantments, and didn't know any spells, as this
was. "Great! Just great!" Kevan mumbled a curse to himself and stood
back up. He looked over at Thorin and glared at him. He walked back
castle intent on asking Thorin a couple of questions, but stopped short
as the ground shook. Standing before him was a huge monster wearing a
uniform. "What the…?" Kevan stopped mid sentence when he heard Alex tell
everyone to follow her into the bookshelf, and watched in shock as she
through it like it was made of liquid. He was about to stop Belle from
following when the demon seemed to react to Alex's escape. Not wanting
to take any
chances, he followed Belle into the bookshelf. Darkness greeted his
senses, and he instantly felt on edge, but it didn't take long for a
light to go on.
When his eyes adjusted, he walked up and stood directly behind Belle. He
was now bound to Belle for life. He would protect her at all costs. If
to harm her, they would have to go through him first. He walked up to
her and put his arms around her waist. "I'm so sorry Belle. I wasn't
enough." He refused to let anyone see him emotional, so he back away and
swallowed hard. "I am now your protector. It was requested by your

Belle released Kevan and turned to Alia. "I'm so sorry you were thrown

with us." Belle went
over to where Alia was standing and handed her one of the amulets. "This
is yours, if you accept, but for now please keep it safe. I will

for instructions. "Lead on my friend."

It had been
several hours of walking down the dark tunnels twisting and turning on a
downward slope which
suggested they were going further underground the air seemed thicker
down here to, and Alex was growing tired of holding her Kitsune Ball up
so that everyone
had light to see by, even by the little bit of light her Kitsune Ball
let off she could still hear someone bump into another every once in
awhile. She new she would have to call a stop soon, everyone would need rest.
So much had happened
since they left the school, a fight in the bar, the terrible surprise
with their first
driver, the old man, Mr. Dupoint, the battle with cedric, surly it was
mid afternoon up on the surface, surly they had been up all night, crest
getting her friends lost she was about to call a halt when something
caught her eye. The shadows up a head that were cast by the light looked
like a doorframe,
had they finally reached the end of the tunnel?
"Wait here guys, Silently, I wont be long, just want to make sure the room ahead of us is safe….
I'll be taking the light so…. Sit tight."
Once she new everyone
was situated and as safe as anyone could be in a dark tunnel deep under
placed her Kitsune Ball around her neck and transformed into a fox. She
let out a loud sniff and sneezed slightly from the dust, her small paws
reaching up to
rub her muzzle.
"Alright see you guys soon!"
It didn't take her long to reach the door way up ahead; she also noticed that the tunnels around her
seemed to fall under a system that she could only understand as a fox.
Slowly, Carefully, she inched her way into the room, the light around her neck reflecting of the items that
The Room was a decent
sized room, more like that of a bedroom size, but instead of beds and
noticed that in the center of the room was a large four legged table and
a single stool next to it. off on the far wall stood a large bookshelf,
books, pots, bottles, knives with jeweled handles and many other knick
knacks that she could not make out from the door way. To her left there
fire-place, barren and empty. Above it upon the mantle seemed to be a
large mirror, the edge glinted in the Kitsune light, taken up shapes and
splendid designs and craftsmanship, someone had put forth a great deal
of effort into the making of that mirror. There were also other little
tunnels along the
walls small enough for a fox to go through, but they did not seem to
shift and form into a larger doorway to admit her friends. Crouching low
Alex pushed off
with her hind legs and up onto the stool next to the large table. Her
large tail, swaying to the side to help with balance. The room had not
been used in ages,
as evidence to the dust that took flight with Alex's moves, causing her
to cough and sneeze fitfully.
The Table was
cluttered with many items, all neatly placed in a manor that only her
science teacher would
understand. Books and papers scattered everywhere, some books left open,
some closed and stacked on-top of each other, while papers lay loosely
from the book
binding and other crumpled together indicating the frustration of one
who used to sit in this very spot many centuries ago.
outwards from the stool, her balance just barley at its edge, as she
tried to get a closer look at the writing inside one of the big black
books that lay
opened, images of strange beasts, and fair maidens fading out of its
pages, when the sound of a low grumble caught her attention, her ears
and her shoulders tensing.
Her voice seemed to quiver in fear, the room seemingly to close in on her before something small, and
something black came hurtling towards her, the feel of sharp teeth grabbing a hold of one of her ears and tugging
"Hey!! Aaahrrg…Owww! Hey let go!!"
Alex spewed, as she
struggled with the creature that attacked her. Already crouched low on
her paws she
pressed sharply upwards, causing her attacker to lose grip and fly off
over Alex's head. Alex shook her head and brought a paw up to rub her
aching ear, a
low moan imitating from the back of her throat, Who had the nerves to
attack her like that? Or better yet, who lived in a place like this!?!
she made to confront her attacker, but only to stop here eyes wide in
"Whaw that was fun!! Lets do that again!!"
Exclaimed the creature, it was a fox, half the size of Alex with pitch-black fur, the only changing of color
on him was the white tip of his tail, and the bright blue eyes of a young kit fox.
"Who in the names of heaven's and earth are you!?"
Alex exclaimed her jaw dropped in surprised
"Me? Oh yea…
Im…ahh…I…Oh! I'm Rin Kit! Kit of Soma Star, but you can call me kit!"
fox puffed up his chest fur with pride "Who are you? I've never seen

was sore. Her legs hurt from the hours that they had been walking in
the dark tunnels.
She looked around in the gloom and noticed water flowing from the
ceiling to the ground, but it did not flood the tunnels. Where on earth
was Alex leading
them? The air kept getting more and more humid as they went, but the
temperature stayed cool. She wondered when they would be able to stop,
and possibly drink
some of the water that was flowing down the walls of the tunnel. Belle
was so distracted in getting away from Hasgard that she didn't think
about food or
water rations. Her belly rumbled in response to the thought. She lowered
a hand and rested it on her belly and groaned.
followed behind Belle as Alex lead the group down the dark tunnels. He
heard Belle groan
and he swung his head around to see if she was ok. She didn't show any
signs of pain, and he smiled at the site of her patting her stomach.
Just as he was
about to ask if she was hungry Alex stopped and turned to the group.
"Wait here guys, Silently, I wont be long, just want to make sure the room

"Alright see you guys soon!"
took a hold of Belle's hand as the light disappeared with Alex. He also
reached out in the direction of Alia and took her hand too. "We should
stay close. Belle, stand next to Alia. I have something to take care of,
don't worry…I am not leaving." Kevan bent down directly where he was,
and piled up a mound of dirt directly in front of him. Slowly, and
almost in a
whisper, he began to sing a song.
Sheilo, Sheilo, Myain ata
Sheilo, Sheilo, Myain ata
Hiland te ugreas, anhota nada do
Sheilo, Sheilo, Myain ata
Belle turned her head as Kevan started to sing, and at first thought he had gone mental, but as
he kept repeated the song over and over, she began to understand what he was saying.
Grow, Grow, My little ones…
Grow, Grow, My little ones…
Thanks to you, another night we live…
Grow, Grow, My little ones…
knew Kevan was singing an enchantment. As he continued, Belle started
smell a most wonderful smell, and it made her mouth water. Kevan stopped
singing, and she heard him stand up, turn, and walk over to her. She
flinched as he
took her hand, not expecting his touch, but very much enjoying it. He
pressed something into her palm, and he told her to eat. She felt the
item he had placed
in her hand, and brought it up to her nose. It was a strawberry! She
took a small bite, and it was the tastiest strawberry she had ever had.
"How did you

"You will learn how to do this soon enough Belle, but for now you must

"How did you do that?"
Alia heard Belle ask in amazement as she felt Kevan pressed something

examined the soft object using touch and smell. It was a strawberry!
Yes, food! She took a small bite out of it. "Here ya go, Rusa." She said

Several hours past,
the room flickered with the warmth of firelight, its flames dancing off
pots and bottles that scattered the room, illuminating the texts written
on many pages of opened books. Alex had come to the conclusion that the
room was a
wizards room, or a witches room… some form of
magic using person, which ever it was she couldn't see how the person
came in and out
of the room except through the entrance they had come, or through the
other small tunnels, but if that were so he would have to be able to
shift and form into
a smaller creature. Which only frustrated her more, If she could
transform two vampires, an elf and a wolf into rats she would have them
press further down the
little tunnels since in her mind there was no way they were going to
turn around and go back the way they came. Fighting was the last thing
on her to do list.
At least the person who worked down here wasn't to much of a stiff, they
had found blankets in a black looking chest, and dry fire wood in one
of the small
Questioned Rin Kit,
the tip of his nose moving forward to press up against hers. Alex had
stayed in fox
form, she decided it would be better that way so as not to scare the
young kit in her human form. She also preferred to be in her fox shape,
she felt more at
home in this form, more apart of life. Alex had been laying on her
belly, her muzzle laying on top of her front paws as she glanced upwards
at the mirror above
the fire place, Now that there was light the mirror seemed to dance as
if it was alive in some way, the translucent colors swirling and
changing within the
reflection of the glass.
Rin Kit asked again
in somewhat of a louder voice, Alex rolled her eyes away from the mirror
into the blue eyes of the kit that was nose to nose with her. Giving an
annoyed little sight Alex muttered "thinking on how to get rid of you"
her mutters were so low and jumbled with little yips and growls that a
fox usually makes, that even Rin Kit with his good hearing tilted his
head in question
before fluffing up his black tail and crawling forward so as to flop
onto Alex's front paws.
"Wachum you say?"
He asked jumping half way up on top of Alex, his little teeth nipping playfully at one of her ears fallowed
by low playful yips.
"I was wondering how you got here"
She growled pressing
back up onto her paws into a sitting position, Alex's movement caused
Rin Kit to
lose his balance and slide down her back away from her already bruised
ears. But that did not stop him in the least, instead of ears he settled
for her tail,
his paws wrapping around her bush like tail and nipping at it as Alex
made to pull away.
"Oh that was easy!" He exclaimed through mouthfuls of fur "mum brought me through the shinny
Alex blinked and stopped trying to tug her tail away from the kit, it was just as well, the more she tugged
the more he saw it as a game.
"Shinny thing? What Shinny thing?"
She asked, pressing one of her paws down onto Rin Kits own un-protected tail. Pinning him to the spot he
"Hey! Letem Me go!"
"Not until you tell me what Shinny thing"
Alex snapped back her ears laying back in annoyance
"The shinny thing you have been staring at all night!"
Rin Kit exclaimed as
he twisted away from Alex's tail and tried to nip at the paw that was
own. Alex ignored the little nips from the kits sharp teeth and sat in
contemplation for a little bit, how could someone go through a mirror?
Alex was about to
ask before rin kit flopped over onto his back in defeat he looked up at
alex before telling his story…
"My mum brought me
here. We were being hunted by hunters, and mum was badly hurt, but she
away from our clan despite her hurt, she told me there was a secret
place where we would be safe. I was very little, I dunno where it was we
went, All's I
remember was mum carrying me, and trees going by fastly like. And then a
shinny thing like the one up there, and then cold... really
Rin kit curled up in
between Alex's paws, as he yawned and rested his muzzle sleepily behind
like tail his breathing falling in soft longing whimpers as he
remembered his mother. Alex laid back down allowing him to rest on her,
she was just happy he
had finally tired out and was going to sleep. Before he fell asleep he
"Fallow the fire steps, to where your heart desires….."
A few minuets latter Alex found herself talking with the others in front of the fire, Rin Kit sleeping on
"I think we should give the mirror a try 'To where your heart desires' I dunno about you guys,
but I think this would be the first time where school sounds like a fantastic place to be right now."
Alex commented her eyes gazing wonderingly up at the mirror.

Belle lounged on a blanket that Alex had
found stuffed in a chest. She looked at the warm fire that everyone was
sitting around, and
thought about the events that had transpired within the past…well…she
didn't know how long. Belle smiled at Alex's patients with Kit. He was
chewing on her ears and tail, but she took it all in stride. Belle shook
her head and looked over to Kevan. "What time…well…day and time is it?
know?" Kevan was about to respond when Kit and Alex starting talking to
"I think we should give the mirror a try 'To where your heart desires' I
dunno about you guys, but I think this would be the first time where school sounds like a fantastic place to be right now."
Belle looked at the mirror. She was a little leery of trying to walk through a mirror, but Alex had
rescued them from Hasgard. She knew they couldn't go back yet, so this seemed the best option. "Yeah, let's go."
Kevan watched the exchange between Alex and Kit
intently. Could they really trust the new kid? Was he genuinely lost, or
did he have
alternative motives? Ever since he learned of Angus's betrayal, he
couldn't help but be cautious of new people. You learn quickly as a
guardian not to
trust anyone. He didn't even fully trust Alia's dog. The only person he
fully trusted was Belle. Alex was trustworthy, as was Thorin and Alia,
didn't trust them yet...with time, perhaps, but not yet.
Kevan looked towards Alex and Kit as they continued
to talk. Something Kit said sparked Alex's attention, and Kevan turned
attention towards them fully. When Alex told them they should go through
the mirror that hung above the fireplace, Kevan knew that the time had
come to finally
tell Belle, and anyone that needed to know, everything. "I think it
would be a great idea to leave, but before we leave, I must tell Belle
grandfather didn't have the chance." Kevan turned so that he was looking
at the group of friends, took out an amulet that was hidden beneath his
shirt, and began.
"The tree of life is a portal between worlds, and
by worlds I mean different dimensions. The underworld and Mount Olympus
are the only other worlds that we know about, besides our own. The
discovery of these other dimensions was due to a terrible mistake; in
which mankind paid a
terrible price. Long ago, three young and mischievous Gods created
earth. They loved their creation, which included the human race. They
loved the humans so
much, that they thought it would be a good idea to make them immortal
like themselves. They planted and grew a tree that bared fruit of
unknown to them, also created a gateway to the other dimensions. If a
person ate from the tree, even just once, they would live forever. What
didn't realize is that humans were not meant to live forever, obviously
because they were not God's. Thinking themselves smart, they singled out
person in particular to try it out on. The person was a woman that one
of the God's was in love with. She agreed in order to be with her
forever, and ate the fruit that grew on the tree. It made her immortal,
but she also became a monster. She became what is known today as a
came with a price, and the God's didn't even know the consequences,
being young and naive. Therefore, the human became a child of the
worse, she was evil. The fruit changed her, and she went crazy killing
many people by feasting on their blood. She killed mothers, fathers, and
The God's went to Zeus to plead for his guidance. However, Zeus only
laughed at their antics and told them that they had to fix their own
problems if they
were ever to mature. Reluctantly, they went back to earth to face their
problems, and to their horror the vampire had used the tree to change
other humans into
vampires as well. The tree was made to be indestructible, so the God's
sent the tree to the underworld. However, that did not close off the
gateway, and it
remained open linking the three different dimensions together. Realizing
that they would never be able to destroy the link, the God's created
Each amulet held a part of the gateway, and when brought together, would
summon the tree of life, and it would open the gateway once again.
Afraid for the
humans of earth, the God's assigned three unique species to guard the
tree of life. One was a kitsune, one a vampire, and one an elf. Each
century, a new
set of guardians emerge to continue the protection of the tree of life,
and those new protectors…well…would be you three; Alia, Alex, and Belle.
already accepted, so that just leaves the two of you to decide. As Mr.
Dupont put it, it is no coincidence that you three were brought
together. As far as the
protectors of the guardians…it is usually assigned to wizards and other
vampires that are keen at enchantments and spells…like me, and there is
usually no more
than two. The additional protectors will be good to have. Most creatures
that search for the amulets look for a group of five. The group is
destined to go
through life together. Alone, we are weak beings, but together, we are
strong. True, there is danger in having all the amulets together, but
just think if
someone finds a guardian off by themselves. Remember…during the time
that the gateway was open, many dark creatures came to earth. Examples
werewolves, trolls, giants, and others that escape my memory at the
moment. They know of the amulets, and are always hunting them. A
guardian's life is no
picnic. It is your choice. Choose wisely." Kevan turned and smiled at
Belle. "Belle, your family has been guardians since the very beginning.
vampire chosen to protect the tree of life was a distant relative of
yours. Your grandfather was the last guardian, and because it skips a
father was not. I will tell you more when we have some time…However,
some guardians do not stay in the family…so to speak…like you Alex."
and tucked his amulet back inside his shirt. "The amulets must be kept
hidden at all times. There are always creatures hunting for them. I am
you are all aware that the amulets that hang around your neck are not
ordinary. They give power to the person that agrees to be a guardian of
the tree of life.
This power is nothing that the person doesn't already possess; it just
increases and amplifies the gifts that the person already has. Like, me
I am a protector, so the amulet works the same for me. In my case, it
increases the power of my enchantments. It also increases my strength
and endurance. It
is different for everyone. You will notice some differences right away,
and others will surface as time goes on. School is no longer an option.
There are too
many threats, and more importantly, Angus's sister is the headmaster.
Our life, as protectors, finds us living as nomads…traveling where the
road takes us.
We don't stay in one spot for a very long period of time. I hope this
helps shed some light on the choice you must make. As for going through
the mirror, I
think it is our only option. We can't go back to the castle." Kevan
stopped and listened…someone was coming…he could hear the faintest of
The scent of the person was familiar, but he couldn't put his finger on
it. "Someone is coming."
